TILLETT P1 LADIES RIB PROTECTOR

Not only will the P1 Ladies help you finish P1, but it is unquestionably the number one protector for women on the market.

In 1996 Tillett Racing Seats was the first company in the world to introduce a karting rib protector with a hard outer skin, called the Ribtec. This product was invented while company founder Steve Tillett was attending major international kart races developing his “Tillett” seats. However, despite the benefits of the new supportive seats, some drivers would still experience continuous rib problems caused by sticky tyres. The rib protector was developed to solve these issues and this early Tillett Ribtec product started a whole new class of protective wear in the karting industry, now adopted as necessary equipment by the FIA.

In the following years the use of Tillett Rib protectors has been instrumental in saving not only injury but also many a championship race.

Tillett rib protectors have been used by numerous Formula one drivers while karting. This elite list of drivers includes names such as Lewis Hamilton, Michael Schumacher, Sebastian Vettel, Kimi Raikkonen, Jules Bianchi, Max Verstappen, Lando Norris, George Russell, Zhou Guanyu, Mick Schumacher, Lance Stroll and many more. Famous Lady drivers such as Davina Galicia, Giovanna Amati, Suzie Wolf, Beitske Vissa have also had Tillett protectors made for them.

Feedback from these and other leading kart drivers at the pinnacle of their sport allows us to develop the highest quality products.

The ladies rib protector design has always been very important to Tillett racing seats. Steve Tillett worked hard to get the P1 shape and design especially right for women, as his daughter Laura Tillett, competed competitively in the FSA World Championship karting series for multiple kart manufacturers. Working closely with Laura on her feedback they designed a shape that would allow a female figure to race without undesired pressure points and discomfort around the bust line.

KEY FEATURES

  • The P1 Ladies is designed specifically for women, with panels shaped for bust comfort.
  • Multi-layer design uses modern armour principles to dissipate energy and spread load.
  • High impact internal composite panels do not deform on a hot day.
  • Highly specialised soft energy absorbing foam.
  • Will not damage race suits due to its plastic outer skin.
  • Fully adjustable at the rear allowing the protector to adapt to a straight or V shaped torso.
  • Able to protect using a very thin cross section, so does not disrupt the seat size. A driver with loose hips would receive even more rib pressure.
  • The shoulder harness is elasticated, which adapts to a twisting torso and prevents the protector from being pullup when driving. It has a neat and effective adjustment method which allows far greater height adjustment.
  • Inner layer of Lycra provides a comfortable and abrasive free surface for the driver, even when wet with sweat.
  • Elasticated front strap conforms to the driver’s chest and enables unhindered breathing.
  • Ultra-lightweight materials for the best performance, approximate weight 380g (mini) – 900g (XL).
  • Size range, XS, S, M.
  • Colours available, Black with Chrome, Black with Gold, Green, Red, Yellow, Blue, and Orange.
  • Custom designs and embroidery available upon request.
  • Over 25 years of design and manufacturing development.
  • Used by multiple World Champions.
  • Made in the UK.
Features
1. Factors to consider

There are many factors to consider when choosing a new kart seat.
If you have had a seat in the past. Do you know the size and shape?

2. Choose a Shape

Shape does not make as much difference as the teams would have you believe, but they will be nervous of miss positioning the seat and may want you to use the shape they are used to fitting.

This is fine until the seat is not the right fit for you. An ill-fitting seat can cause a driver to damage their body or hang on the wheel, neither are good for ultimate performance.

Different shapes put in the chassis with the drivers back in exactly the same place, made with the same materials will pretty much handle the same.
That said a significant angle change of the back will alter the handling especially for bigger driver and this should be looked at separately.

P1 Sizing Guide

Tillett are happy to provide a sizing guide and tips in choosing the correct size for your new P1 Rib Protector.

Please note when sizing that it can be tempting for a parent to buy a size for a child to grow into. Alternatively, you could mistakenly select a size where the halves touch at the front. This is a mistake.

A rib protector must not be too big. If in doubt go for the smaller size and use the width adjustment at the rear under the rear joining panel.

Like a crash helmet. If it's too big it will not support correctly. The front Velcro strap will be hard to do up tight if the protector is too big.
