Chainguards

Enclosed chainguards are now mandatory not only in the UK but throughout CIK racing from January 2008.

Here are some of the benefits of using the Tillett Racing Seats fully enclosed chainguard range.

Much safer than plastic strips during normal operation and accidents.

Substantially reduces the amount of chain oil and grease that flicks over your kart and race suit.

They include a universal bracket set, which make it easier to work on the kart as complete removal is simple and takes seconds.

New TAG Nylon Chainguard

Nylon Chainguard Rotax/TAG versionThe NEW TAG chain guard is made from tough Nylon and is suitable, for the Rotax Max and new KF engines. The plastic TAG guard is available in black and has a long bracket kit as standard which keeps the guard more rigidly located and helps move the fixings above the exhaust of the Max making access easier.

The guards are wide enough to allow the use of sprocket protectors. Adjustable mid point to allow the sprocket to run centrally in the guard. Easy to cut and modify to fit most engine / kart combinations

The price is £36.00 + vat including universal long bracket mounting kit.

The price without the mounting kit is £23.00 + vat

Composite Chainguard

Composite chainguard RHD versionThe composite guards are sturdy and rigid and do not wobble due to the honeycomb core on the mounting side.

Available to fit RHD, LHD, JICA engines and a new longer version for Rotax Max. The guards are wide enough to allow the use of sprocket protectors. Adjustable mid point to allow the sprocket to run centrally in the guard. Easy to cut and modify to fit most engine / kart combinations

The price is £54.00 + vat including universal mounting kit.

The price without the mounting kit is £38.00 + vat

Carbon Kevlar® Chainguard

Carbon chainguard KF versionThe New Carbon Kevlar® Tillett chainguard is the lightest on the market at 170 gm in a RHD/Rotax version and is 138 gm when cut for the KF classes. Unlike many products that cosmetically use carbon look materials the lightweight Tillett guard uses genuine carbon and is Kevlar® brand fibre lined for ballistic protection against a thrown chain. It also has two smooth sides making it easy to clean.

The price is £128.00 + vat including universal mounting kit.

The price without the mounting kit is £114.00 + vat

Also available are 10 gmt carbon fibre fixing brackets at £16.00 + vat each .

Honda GX160 Chain Guard

The New Tillett Honda guard mounts solidly to the engine and is wide enough to allow sprocket protectors.

The guard is made from lightweight composite and weighs only 324 grams including the bracket system. It is simply removed with two 6 mm nuts.

Prices:
Guard including bracket kit £51.00 + vat
Guard only £37.00 + vat
Bracket assembly £16.00 + vat

Ribcage, composite panels that give extra side depth to the seats

The new Ribcage body support system comprises of two bold on, rigid yet comfortable pads that give extra upper body lateral support. Traditionally the only way to achieve this was to either use a seat with deepened sides, or to produce a wrap-around seat that curved around the body.

Ribcage panels avoid the damage caused by the hard edge of the seat, particularly if a driver is thrown forward or out of the kart. Also, kart seats are available in many different shapes and sizes but they are not depth or height adjustable, which means that the fit of the seat is nearly always a compromise.

A good tight fit around the chest is essential to help protect the ribs and hipbones from damage and by using Ribcage, you can choose the perfect height, depth and by using the Ribcage Spacer Kit, the width around the rib area is also adjustable. The Ribcage Spacer Kit contains 6 x M8 long seat bolt sets and 18 x 4mm nylon spacer washers.

Ribcage does not alter the properties of the original seat by changing the rigidity and therefore will only have a positive effect on the lap times. Due to their curved shape they restrict entry and therefore are more suitable for clutch driven karts than direct drive. If a seat with rib padding is to be used the use of a 40 mm diameter x 4 mm thick nylon spacer between the seat and Ribcage is recommended. This ensures that the bolts can be tightened sufficiently by crushing the foam completely. Therefore they are best used with uncovered T5, T8, T9, T9.5, T10, T11, T12 and T250. Fully covered T5 and T7 seats can be ordered without side foam to suit the Ribcage, though not on-line.

The price of the Ribcage system is £52.00 + vat

The Ribcage spacer set is £10.00 + vat

V-Pads Rib protection pads

The faux suede covered V pads are made from firm foam and are used to size the driver to the seat correctly.

They are also useful when used with a hard shell rib protector like the P1. This is because they cover the bolt heads and stop them from damaging the race suit and protector.

With the addition of a little more self adhesive backed Velcro they can be moved if you need to use another chassis.

Price £17.00 + vat.

VH-pads Hip sizing pads

With the advent of thick rib protectors it has become necessary to pad out the hips for narrow hipped drivers.

The faux suede Tillett hip pads take up this gap using a firm foam and a durable suede outer layer. They fit using self adhesive Velcro so they can be re-used in multiple karts.

Price £17.00 + vat.

One size, available in black only.

Carbon & Composite Floor Trays

Carbon Floor Tray

Composite Floor Tray
Composite close-up
The main reason for using a composite floor tray is to save weight.

Aluminium floor trays weigh 1100 gm on average, by comparison a Tillett Composite floor tray can weigh as little as 330 gm.

Changing the floor tray to save weight must be done with careful consideration, as a change to the rigidity of the tray could have a noticeable effect on handling.

This is why we have developed three rigidities. Get the correct rigidity and it will help the handling and lower your lap times.

Our special manufacturing process that makes these trays gives two glossy, easy to clean surfaces and an almost perfect consolidation of the materials used.

Quality and looks are commonly used reasons for using the Carbon trays. They are made using a special chequered weave Carbon which increases rigidity over normal twill weave fibre and these are placed either side of a honeycomb centre to save weight.

When ordering a floor tray, customers may need to supply a paper pattern with the outline of the shape, this depends on the popularity of the chassis. The split level trays for the latest models of Birel have to be made by hand which means that unlike other models the trays will only have one glossy side.

T Board Seat Fitting Jig

Seat fitting is without doubt the most time consuming jobs on the kart. Accurately positioning a seat (which if 5 mm out, will be detectable in the lap times) is difficult when you take into account the varying shapes, sizes and driver seating preferences.

The T Board Seat Fitting Jig gives an accurate way of understanding where your seat is positioned in relation to the rear axle. The measurement point used on the rear of the seat allows different seating angles to be used, while keeping the centre of gravity in a similar position.
Deliberately measuring to one side of the spine recess takes into account differing spine depths in the many varied types of seats.

The seat position can be set, the three necessary dimensions recorded and then transferred into any other chassis as a starting point. Using the T Board, it is now possible to understand the optimum seat position of each type of kart, whilst also enabling you to easily mark and drill the seat fixing holes with greater accuracy.

Rain Meister

Sometimes the only way to get grip from a cold, wet or slippery track surface is to put downward pressure on the 2 outside tyres.

On these occasions lifting the seat up will help to get a higher centre of gravity and therefore help attain extra grip.

The problem is that many small tweaks like this can’t be achieved fast enough when it rains.
The Rain Meister speeds up the task.
  • Can Improve Handling In
    Wet Or Cold Conditions
  • Ultra Lightweight
  • Will Not Absorb Water
  • Fast, Secure Velcro Fixing
  • Fits In Most Kart Seats
